In her first book Margot McKinnon presents her new learning theory on how to recognize and achieve personal success through balancing the four aspects of being human.
During a university graduate class on spirituality and education Margot McKinnon took to heart an assignment asking her to explain how the body, mind and spirit are connected. From this assignment her exciting new personality theory on Body, Mind, Spirit, Soul Dominance was born.
A theory that attempts to explain the differences which exist between individuals and groups of people. Why some students are bright. Why other students are seemingly not so bright. For parents and teachers this may be the key to understanding children who they see as having behaviour problems. The Exquisiteness of Being Human: The Body, Mind, Spirit, Soul Dominance Theory'could just be the guide to realizing individual personal success.
The body, the physical self. The celebrated self.
Rewarded from an early age for endurance, grace, agility and loveliness. The physical attributes of humanity are recognized and celebrated with first place ribbons, trophies, and for the exceptional human bodies, large amounts of money.
The mind, the intellectual self.
To understand their five senses, the mind dominant use logic: hypothesis, observation and conclusion. Problems are solved. New systems are developed and improved upon by intellect. The successes of the mind are measured and rewarded by gold stars, report cards and scholarships, which are often followed up with large salaries. In today’s world mind and body dominant people most often have highly successful and financially rewarding careers, but still some feel that something in life is lacking.
The spirit, our innate being.
Living by intuition and learning from experience. Spirit dominant people often know and see what the body and mind dominant people have yet to learn. Aware of what the world should be in contrast to the world they live in, spirit dominant people have trouble comprehending the consumerism, hate and ecological destruction which surrounds them. The spirit may recede into its body in order to become invisible. The spirit may rebel and manifest itself in what are often perceived as behaviour problems or, in severe cases, disorders such as autism. Most often the spirit dominant are seen as quirky and perhaps learning disabled. There are no current canons for either measuring or rewarding the spirit dominants’ talents, intuitiveness, optimism and inherent joy for life. Though, ironically, many mind and body dominant people are seeking spirituality.
The soul is our reason for being.
The lucky are those who know from an early age what their soul’s purpose in life is. Margot McKinnon knew from the age of four she was to be a teacher. The really lucky people are those who know how to balance out their soul’s focused direction by drawing upon the respective strengths of their body, mind and spirit dimensions. McKinnon’s personal development theory is that in order to obtain personal success one must first obtain a balance between the body, mind, spirit and soul. Once balance is achieved then the true exquisiteness of being human can be enjoyed.
